Giving to UAB Libraries

It starts with your gift. For more than 60 years, UAB’s libraries have served as a center of knowledge, a study spot, a quiet haven in the middle of a bustling campus, and a repository of rare and historical books and artifacts. The Mervyn H. Sterne library alone houses more than one million books, periodicals, microforms, sound and video recordings, and electronic resources. The Lister Hill Library of the Health Sciences is the largest biomedical library in Alabama, one of the leading such libraries in the South, and an essential resource for medical students and professionals at UAB and in the surrounding area; its collections span seven centuries of knowledge. The Reynolds Historical Library is a nationally respected collection of rare and important books, manuscripts, and artifacts in the medical sciences.

Generous donors have enabled our libraries to purchase books, teaching materials, and special items essential to the work of our students, faculty, and researchers; to encourage and contribute to scholarship through lectures, publications, and teaching activities; to preserve and promote the history and unique offerings of our city and region—and to connect the members of our communities to the world’s recorded knowledge.

UAB’s libraries still rely on community support. Your gifts are essential for our libraries to grow, offer the most current and pertinent materials, and continue to provide a valuable resource for students at UAB and visitors around the Southeast.
