Comprehensive Diabetes Center Hosts 2009 Crystal Ball

Nearly 300 guests joined co-chairs Leah McKinney and Carla Roberson on February 7 at the 2009 Crystal Ball to celebrate the accomplishments of the UAB Comprehensive Diabetes Center in its quest to cure diabetes. The event honored the Junior League of Birmingham, a lead investor in the center, and raised more than $240,000 to support the center’s ongoing research and clinical initiatives.

“I would like to thank the co-chairs, donors, and all of the participants for making the 2009 Crystal Ball a memorable event,” says UAB President Carol Garrison. “The evening was an opportunity to bring together members of the Birmingham community and UAB to celebrate our successes and to look toward the future development of the center. The local community has been incredibly supportive of the Comprehensive Diabetes Center’s efforts to provide the best care, state-of-the-art therapies, and high-impact research directed at treating and curing diabetes. We are grateful for this support.”
