With initial donations from the Alabama Academy of General Dentistry and the Alabama Dental Association, the Mary Lynne Capilouto Endowed Support Fund will help strengthen the School of Dentistry’s important and vital outreach program. It will provide the financial means for the school to visit areas where residents do not have the knowledge or the financial means to receive consistent, quality dental care.
Since her graduation in 1977, Mary Lynne Capilouto, D.M.D., has been a tireless advocate for the School of Dentistry. She has shared her knowledge and love of education and patient care by developing outreach programs. It was in honor of her innumerable contributions to the school that this endowment was established in her name.
“As a student, faculty member, and dean, Dr. Capilouto had a great passion for serving children and underserved populations,” says Huw F. Thomas, Ph.D., dean of the School of Dentistry. “This fund will ensure the school can help those populations while giving our students the very best education. This is a fitting tribute to her.”
