UAB National Alumni Society Hosts Wine Tasting for Scholarship Funds

The UAB National Alumni Society overflowed with support from generous sponsors, donors, and friends who attended the 2010 Uncork Education Wine Tasting and Silent Auction event on August 8 at Flower Stems. More than 200 guests enjoyed wine (including a 2010 Blazer wine), cheese, hors d’oeuvres, live music from the UAB Jazz Combo, and bidding on this year’s silent-auction items. This event, only in its second year, raises funds for scholarships.

“Uncork Education has really taken off as a unique and fun way to raise scholarship funds,” says Rebecca Watson, associate vice president for alumni affairs and annual giving. “We are grateful to our generous sponsors and for the donors who have shown such enthusiastic support for our students through this event.”

Sponsors for this year’s event included Chef Bob Catering, EBSCO Creative Concepts, Hyatt Place Birmingham Downtown, Liberty Mutual, Mayer Electric Supply, and BBVA Compass Insurance. A full list of silent-auction donors is available on the Alumni Society Web page (www.uab.edu/alumni).
