40 Years of Support

Spain Women’s Committee Continues Support for Spain Rehabilitation Center

For more than 40 years, the Women’s Committee of Spain Rehabilitation Center has shown unwavering support for the facility and UAB. The group actively engages in fund-raising activities for the center and participates in special events for the patients. Last fall, UAB recognized and honored the organization at a lunch on campus.

The Women’s Committee has been around for more than 40 years, and some of its members have been active participants for the entire time the group has been in existence. The group does much behind-the-scenes work, such as hosting employee appreciation events, throwing an annual holiday party for patients, and helping to fund crucial equipment needs for the hospital.

In 2006, the group established the Women’s Committee of the Spain Rehabilitation Center Endowed Chair in Rehabiliation Research. They recently raised the $100,000 needed to purchase a balance machine, the latest in a line of therapeutic devices provided by the committee. They have also funded other therapeutic devices at Spain, including the aquatic therapy pool and a weight-bearing treadmill, among many other projects benefiting the center.
