Fiesta Ball Raises Funds for Cancer Center

Young Supporters Host 2011 Event

The Young Supporters Board of the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center celebrated Cinco de Mayo for a cause with Fiesta Ball 2011 last spring. Fiesta Ball is a fun-filled, Mexican-themed event where guests enjoy live music and Mexican food while supporting the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center, Alabama’s only comprehensive cancer center as designated by the National Cancer Institute. The proceeds support a competitive grant awarded to a young cancer investigator.

Last year’s event also featured a silent auction filled with a variety of items, from exclusive gift certificates to jewelry to vacation packages. The auction proceeds are used to support the Young Supporters Board’s Patient and Family Services Committee, which provides activities and amenities for cancer patients and their loved ones throughout the year.
