Welcome to the homepage of Dr. Tommy Smith and The University of Alabama at Birmingham's Mathematics Education Resource Center. The purpose of this homepage is to inform mathematics teachers, specifically teaching the middle grades, in the Birmingham metropolitan area and across the state of Alabama of the activities in mathematics education at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and at various places across the nation. This page include descriptions of teacher enhancement grant programs at UAB sponsored by the National Science Foundation and the Alabama Eisenhower project. This homepage is linked to other World Wide Web pages which contains mathematics resources useful for teachers and information that are hoped will be valuable to teachers as they try to implement reform in their mathematics teaching and curricula.
