Public Service Internships

Students have earned academic credit for placements with Senator Shelby and Senator Sessions in their Washington, DC offices; as Senate Intern for Alabama State Senate Majority Leader Jabo Waggoner in Montgomery through the Alabama Legislative Internship Program; Republican Party of Alabama; and in positions with the Alabama Citizens for Constitutional Reform; the United Way; the YWCA of Central Alabama; CAWACO Resource Conversation and Development Council, and Autism Speaks.

Students perform at least 60 hours of community service at their placement site and complete a directed reading on civic engagement, public service and policy under the supervision of a faculty advisor.
