On Friday, four alumni from the School of Engineering were inducted into the UAB Excellence in Business Top 25’s Class of 2014.
Steven Boggan, Jim Meads, Joe Meads, and Gary Savage were inducted into the program, which seeks to identify, recognize, and celebrate the success of the Top 25 UAB alumni-owned or UAB alumni-operated businesses. To be eligible, companies must have been in business for a minimum of three years and must have verifiable annual revenues of at least $150,000.
Boggan, president and CEO of BioHorizons, Inc., earned his master’s degree in biomedical engineering in 1989 and has been with BioHorizons since 1995.
Jim and Joe Meads are twin brothers who co-own Sain Associates, Inc. Both brothers received bachelors’ degrees in civil engineering in 1983. Sain Associates was awarded the Birmingham Business Alliance’s Small Business of the Year Award in 2013.
Savage earned his bachelor’s degree from the School of Engineering in 1982 before launching a successful career in the construction industry, much of which has been spent working for the Harbert family. Savage is president of U.S. Operations for BL Harbert International, L.L.C., which requires him to oversee the financial operations and plan for the future growth of the company.
