Over 4,000 students are currently enrolled in graduate studies at UAB. One of our greatest assets is the diversity in age, social and economic background, ethnicity, and countries of origin of this student body. Approximately 20% of our graduate population is made up of minorities, and many of our students are returning to graduate school after years in the work force. Because students learn from each other as well as from academic courses, research, and individual study, this diversity enhances the UAB environment by bringing a wealth of life experiences and varying perspectives which in turn promote the creation and exchange of knowledge.
“I liked that I got to do research and apply my knowledge from the past few years to solve a problem. Every day I had to reference my past classes/textbooks to solve problems."
"I had not been feeling confident in my engineering skills until this course. It has shown me that I will be able to approach a problem and logically think through it and determine what needs to be done to solve it. Also I believe I am better equipped to check the solution outcome for accuracy."
"This course taught me so much about the engineering field and gave me a sense of confidence in my ability to make critical design decisions. The poster presentation format for discussing the project gave the students and visitors time to focus on interesting key points of the project.”
“Really enjoyed this course. It was really well structured and really made me eager about joining the engineering workforce.”
“This was the best course of my entire curriculum!”
