Assessment of Pedestrian Activity and Behavior: University Blvd and 14th Street South, University of Alabama at Birmingham

The objective of this effort is to assess pedestrian safety at the intersection of University Blvd and 14th Str S at the Campus of the University of Alabama at Birmingham.  This involves:

a. Collection of pertinent data at the intersection that will allow the assessment of operational, behavioral, and pedestrian safety related issues at the study site, and
b.   Analysis of intersection performance with and without potential introduction of a pedestrian scramble design at this location using the procedures of the Highway Capacity Manual.

The results will be used to determine if any changes are needed to improve pedestrian safety at the site will maintaining operational efficiency.
