Everything seemed normal at the mall Sunday afternoon, except in one corner. That's where a half-dozen robots ran wild in the Riverchase Galleria.

The robots -- wheeled contraptions built out of plywood and sheet metal -- and their designers were practicing for the upcoming Blazer BEST Robotics competition, in which teams of high school students will race against each other with their remote-controlled creations.  Blazer BEST is the Birmingham hub for the national BEST Robotics program, which stands for Boosting Engineering Science and Technology.
