UAB offers an international graduate program at Misr University for Science and Technology (MUST) that culminates in a Master’s of Science in Civil Engineering (MSCE) degree.  Students enrolled in the program can complete their degree in 14 months – instruction begins in mid July and ends in mid September of the following year.

The program is designed for online instruction to facilitate interactions among faculty and students.  The UAB faculty are available on the MUST campus for one month during each summer for direct communication with the students.

The program is designed to focus on cutting edge information and technologies related to construction engineering management, with particular emphasis on the emerging fields of sustainability and green building construction.  These areas of study are fairly new even in the U.S.A and as such the program will enable students to receive the latest and most up-to-date information that is not available within the traditional graduate curriculum.  UAB faculty assigned to the program have expertise in the area of sustainability and green design and will be able to convey the latest knowledge to the students through coursework and research activities.

Graduates from the program receive the following certificates and degree:

  • Construction Engineering Management (CEM) Certificate (12 credit hours)
  • Sustainable Engineering Certificate (12 credit hours)
  • Master of Science in Civil Engineering degree (total of 33 credit hours, which consist of 24 hours of certificate coursework plus 9 hours of independent research and master’s project)

UAB students can join the program for one Summer semester for a Study Abroad experience and to receive one of the two Certificates listed above. The program has been administered since Summer 2007. Graduate student experiences and training have been exceptional as evidenced by their testimonials.
