Assistant Professor (non-tenure)

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alabama at Birmingham invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure earning, faculty position focused in the area of Occupational System Safety at the rank of Assistant Professor, to be filled as soon as possible.

Applicants are expected to have a strong commitment to teaching excellence. The successful candidate must have strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues and participate in ongoing departmental programs.

Duties include:
• Develops an undergraduate program in Applied Science with various racks, the first of which will be Advanced Safety Engineering (System Safety)
• Develops a specific track for the PhD in Interdisciplinary Engineering in System Safety

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in the field of safety engineering and working knowledge of SACS and ABET accreditation. Candidates must be U.S. Citizens or have permanent residence status. A pre-employment background investigation is performed on candidates selected for employment.
