Welcome to the UAB Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) Student Chapter homepage. The UAB ITE Student chapter was established in December 2002 with the enthusiastic participation of students and faculty in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at UAB and the support of ITE, ALSITE, and the local transportation community.

The purpose of this UAB Institute of Transportation Engineers Student Chapter is to promote the advancement of transportation and traffic engineering by fostering the close association of students with the transportation and traffic engineering profession and the Institute of Transportation Engineers. Student Chapter members become better acquainted with topics of interest in transportation and traffic engineering through speaker presentations, chapter-sponsored field trips, and student competitions. They also enjoy discounts at conferences and ITE bookstore purchases, access to job openings and scholarships and participation in civic engagement and professional development activities.

UAB ITE Student Chapter Officers for the 2012-2013 school year include: Dan Hester, President; Ehsan Doustmohammadi, Vice President; Aref Motamedi Lamouki, Secretary; and Natalia Barbour, Treasurer. Dr. Virginia Sisiopiku is the Chapter’s faculty advisor. Mr. James Thomas of Sain Associates Inc., a UAB alumnus, serves as the liaison between the UAB ITE Student Chapter and the Alabama Section Institute of Transportation Engineers (ALSITE).
