Jointly sponsored by the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Barber Motorsports, Southern Company, and the International Society for Terrain Vehicle Systems, this International Engineering Symposium will provide an avenue for attendees to meet with the world's leading professionals to learn and discuss leading-edge research and engineering accomplishments and future trends in:
  • Manned/unmanned agile ground vehicle dynamics
  • Vehicle energy efficiency and
  • Vehicle performance in severe environments

Symposium Topics

The following topics from the manned ground vehicle area will be covered with appropriate reference to their applicability to unmanned ground vehicles:
  • Historical aspects, pivotal accomplishments, and analysis of future trends in road/off-road manned vehicle dynamics including efficient and sustainable power flow management between interdependent vehicle systems, operational fusion of vehicle interdependent and independent systems;
  • Innovative on-line, real-time modeling methodologies, open architecture software, and visualization in virtual environment of vehicles with multi-body, multi-physics, and multi-input-output systems, fast and slow conflicting holonomic/non-holonomic systems with interconnected dynamics;
  • New fast and predictive control techniques and advanced sensor/actuator designs and electronics in under/over actuated systems to accommodate agile vehicle dynamics requirements;
  • Terramechanics, soil dynamic characteristics, uncertainties and stochastic characteristics of vehicle-environment interaction for agile vehicle dynamics modeling;
  • Case studies of agile vehicle dynamics and vehicle systems design.
