The Minor in Linguistics
The minor in linguistics allows students to investigate the principles that underlie language. A linguistics minor can pursue such diverse topics as grammar, syntax, dialects, language history, sound systems, language acquisition, and language and the brain. Linguistics is quite interdisciplinary, having ties to anthropology, cognitive science, education, foreign language, philosophy, and psychology. Linguistics minors will find their credentials strengthened for the pursuit of law, medicine, education, writing, government service (such as the FBI), professional translation, or diplomacy.
