The Minor in Creative Writing
The Minor in Creative Writing offers students opportunities to write fiction, poetry, and creative non-fiction as a complement to their major. Students can interact with a nationally recognized faculty as well as with distinguished visiting writers brought to campus by the UAB Writers' Series. Outstanding students may also read and publish their work and compete for awards. The Department is home to both Birmingham Poetry Review and PMS poemmemoirstory, and English students are often involved in Aura, the university's literary magazine.
Students pursuing the minor in creative writing must take 18 hours of eligible EH courses at the 300- and 400- level. For further information about degree requirements and eligible courses, see the online UAB Course Catalog.
