The Minor in Creative Writing

The minor in creative writing offers opportunities to write fiction, poetry, and creative non-fiction. Students can interact with a nationally recognized faculty as well as with distinguished visiting writers brought to campus by the UAB Writers' Series. Outstanding students may also read and publish their work and compete for awards. The Department is home to both Birmingham Poetry Review and PMS poemmemoirstory, and English students are often involved in Aura, the university's literary magazine.
