Dr.
Crain was born and raised in Birmingham. He received his Bachelor
of Science Degree from Auburn University in 1981, and graduated
from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in 1985.
After a flexible internship at Carraway Hospital in 1986,
he completed his residency in ophthalmology at the University
of Alabama at Birmingham/Eye Foundation Hospital in 1989.
After
graduation, Dr. Crain remained on faculty for two years, and
then moved to a private solo practice in a small community
in north Alabama from 1991-1999. Dr. Crain rejoined the Department
in 1999. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology
and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
