UAB has two new flagpoles on the Green! Robert James presents Brooks H. Baker III a framed resolution from the Board of Trustees recognizing his gift of a flagpole in honor and memory of his late wife, Virginia Baker. Mr. Baker also supplied a historical flag from World War II that his father used on a landing craft at the end of the war.
The entire James family in front of the flagpole dedicated to the memory of Wallace and Edith James (in the red hat). There are five first generation UAB graduates in the photo. From the left, Joan Greene, Stanley Savincki, Joyce Savincki, Edith James, Joe James, Jim James.
The UAB National Alumni Society graciously supplied funds to install a lighting system to allow the flags to fly properly at night. |

UAB Recyling Going Full Force “It’s not just important that we recycle, it’s also important that we do it correctly.” Approximately 2,231,640 pounds of recyclable materials are collected and recycled each year at UAB. More than 881,430 pounds of paper was recycled by the center last year because of increased efforts by the Department of Facilities Management to bring more recycling options to campus.
