Expo Business Luncheon

Nearly a dozen exhibitors from around the city participated in the luncheon, hosted by the UAB Department of Small Business Inclusion (SBI) on June 8, 2017. The event enables businesses and UAB departments to network for future opportunities.

Each year, the Expo Business Luncheon Selection Committee selects three outstanding entrepreneurs for the 3N3 (3-in-3 Minute Presentations), a segment where each finalist is given three minutes to discuss their business success and partnership with UAB. These companies exude professionalism and promote the spirit of UAB through their partnership. Among those recognized included Samata Shah, Founder/Owner of Kopri Signs & Graphics; Charles Lewis, Vice President/COO of A.G. Gaston Construction; and Shelia Benson, Founder/Owner of Employment Screening Services.

The Expo Business Luncheon participants engaged with various departments within UAB to discuss opportunities to service and satisfy their current needs. These exhibitors networked with fellow business leaders in the community to discover untapped markets and partner on future projects. The luncheon concluded with a dynamic presentation on the importance and engagement of small business growth in UAB from keynote speaker: Laura Kowalczyk, JD, MPH, Senior Associate Vice President of Supply Chain Services and Operations for UAB Medicine.
