Special Event Recycling
UAB Recycling can provide event boxes, half-gluttons, or even totes for various special events around campus. In the past, we’ve handled concerts both large & small at the Alys Stephens Center, Into the Streets volunteering on the Campus Green, plus numerous student life picnics and get-togethers where cans and/or plastic bottles will be present.
If you will be hosting a special event & your facility doesn’t have recycling containers in the immediate vicinity or need additional ones, please contact the recycling center staff (see info above.) They can also provide volunteers to monitor the bins and clean up. Please give several days notice, especially for lager events.
How to Get a Bin Emptied
All containers across campus are checked on a weekly basis. Totes and half-gluttons are emptied if more than 2/3 full. Housekeeping staff empty desk side boxes into the totes. If you have a tote or half-glutton that has been full for more than a day, you may notify the Recycling staff by using the contact information above. Please be very specific about your request. Include information such as: Building, floor, closest room #, and any other identifying information. Also, please note the container type as a tote or half-glutton.
