ASBA kickoff august 2016The 2016 Fall semester is off to a great start thanks to the ASBA Kickoff & Pairing Reception at the Hill Student Center. The business meeting assembled a dynamic group of professionals and students on Sunday, August 28, 2016. The local event paired students with local Birmingham small businesses interested in growing their business.

Attendees learned best practices and tips to produce a successful mentorship experience from UAB Provost Dr. Linda Lucas, UAB Collat School of Business Dean Dr. Eric Jack and many others. The ASBA program enables DBE partners and student interns to learn new and innovative business skills from each other on a daily basis. ASBA equips both student interns and business partners with the resources they need to succeed.

The year’s Kickoff & Pairing Reception marked the transition for the biggest ASBA class since its inaugural class in January 2015. ASBA started with only nine student interns and six DBE’s, but those numbers have increased exponentially to 24 student interns and 17 DBE’s.

The program leaders are currently seeking small businesses, in Birmingham, who would like to have an intern to work in their business.
