Speakers Bureau Mission Statement
The mission of the Speakers Bureau is to enhance and disseminate knowledge and to increase awareness of the educational opportunities in and beyond the UAB Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures. The Bureau will bring together UAB, the general public, and the international communities in Birmingham in order to foster a greater global perspective, to explore subjects of common interest to all cultural groups, and to promote foreign language acquisition. Within the Bureau there are members with a high degree of scholarly expertise as well as those with considerable travel and living abroad experience. In addition, several speakers have dual-language backgrounds in the fields of business, social work, public health and medicine.
Languages currently being taught at UAB and in which Speakers Bureau programs can be presented are Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Japanese, and others offered on demand. Presentations can be made in English, the appropriate second language, or a combination of the two.If you are interested in participating please register online here.
