Guaraní Language and Context

         BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures welcomed Dr. Almidio Aquino, Visiting Jemison Professor, Monday night at the Sterne Library. 2006 Foreign Languages for the Professions: The benefits of language and culture immersion for a successful career.

         BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - On Thursday, January 26 the UAB Department of Foreign Languages & Literatures hosted the spring 2006 Foreign Languages for the Professions Panel. Over 180 students were in attendance and a good time was had by all. The audience heard from Josh Carter of UAB Study Abroad, four students visiting UAB from The Universidad de Jaén, former UAB students and two local professionals who all succeeded showing the importance of learning another language and sharing their study/work abroad experiences. Spanish 101 Gets a New Look!

         BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Many of you (students) may have noticed in the catalog this semester that the Spanish 101 for Spring '06 looks a little different. The UAB Dept of Foreign Languages & Literatures is piloting a new format for Spanish 101. The format consists of a Lecture once a week for one hour followed by twice a week meetings in the tutorial or lab as the catalog says. Currently the format is only applicable to Spanish 101.
