for students pursuing Ph.D.s
in biomedical science at UAB

In fact, there are eight of them.

Building on a tradition of excellence and innovation in
education, and recognizing the need for interdisciplinary training for
tomorrow’s leaders in scientific discovery, UAB’s Graduate Biomedical
Sciences (GBS) program now offers students a training approach that combines
flexibility, choice, and structure. 

Instead of selecting a department in which to pursue their studies,
students choose one of eight interdisciplinary thematic programs.

Biochemistry and Structural biology • Cancer Biology •
Cell, Molecular, and Developmental Biology • Genetics and
Genomic Sciences • Immunology • Microbiology • Neurosciences •
Pathobiology and Molecular Medicine
