Chemotherapy
is the treatment of cancer with drugs that can destroy cancer
cells. These drugs are often called "anticancer"
drugs. Chemotherapy fights cancer by stopping cancer cells
from growing and multiplying. Anticancer drugs will sometimes
affect normal healthy cells, this can cause negative side
effects such as nausea and hair loss. Often times a combination
of anticancer drugs may be given at one treatment and/or
chemotherapy may be combined with radiation
therapy or surgery.
