Do you want to earn a graduate-level certificate in Mentoring & LeadershipResearch Communication, or Teaching? Just follow these steps.


 

1. Apply for admission to the certificate program.


  • If you are not a current UAB graduate student
    • Complete and submit a certificate application here.  You will select Mentoring & Leadership or CIRTL as your intended program of study.  If selecting CIRTL, you will also select Practitioner or Scholar as your concentration.  
  • If you are a post-doctoral fellow at UAB but have not already been admitted as a post-doctoral non-degree seeking graduate student:
    • Complete and submit a non-degree seeking application here.  You will select Post-doctoral Fellow as your intended program of study.  Contact the Office of Post-doctoral Education (postdocs@uab.edu) regarding your intent to take graduate coursework.  
    • After admission, submit the "Intent to Pursue a Professional Development Certificate" form.  For Area of Study, choose Mentoring & Leadership, CIRTL Practitioner, or CIRTL Scholar..


2. Meet with a Professional Development adviser regarding required coursework and complete your required classes


3. Submit the Application for Graduate Degree/Certificate

You will log into BlazerNET, click Links/Forms, and select Apply for Graduate Degree/Certificate.  If you do not see the appropriate curriculum (Mentoring & Leadership, CIRTL Practitioner, or CIRTL Scholar) in your application, you will need to Submit the "Intent to Pursue a Professional Development Certificate" form so your student record can first be updated.
