Roger Nichols has enjoyed his academic career at UAB. He has spent 5 years total at UAB, first pursuing his bachelor’s degree and then his master’s degree. This May he will receive his master of science in mathematics. His research focus is Random Schrödinger operators in mathematical physics.

When asked why he chose UAB for his graduate studies, Roger said, “The UAB Mathematics Department has a good reputation. I got acquainted with most of the mathematics professors here at UAB as an undergraduate, so choosing UAB for graduate studies was a natural choice.”

Roger’s academic awards while at UAB have been numerous. He has earned the 2006 Outstanding Undergraduate Student in Mathematics and the 2007 Outstanding Graduate Student in Mathematics.
Roger credits his advisor, Dr. Gunter Stolz, for being his greatest influence here at UAB. He adds, “Working with Dr. Stolz has been my most rewarding experience at UAB.”

Roger plans on pursuing a Ph.D. in mathematics in order to attain a position in academia.

We wish Roger the best in his academic and professional careers.
