Historical Note:         William Harrison Wilkerson was born September 4, 1836 in Troup County, Georgia.  He attended Graefenberg Medical Institute in

                                    Dadeville, Alabama, and graduated from there August 10, 1857.  He married Lucinda Hammock on January 6, 1861, in Tallapoosa,

                                    Alabama.  During the Civil War he served in the 53rd Alabama Regiment and spent two years as a prisoner of war.  In 1866 Wilkerson

                                    and his family moved to Harperville, Mississippi, where he practiced medicine.  He died on December 31, 1902, in Pineville, Mississippi.

 

Scope and Content:    Consists of one diploma from the Graefenberg Medical Institute, one matriculation card from Graefenberg and a Mississippi state medical license.
