The graduate history program provides opportunities for students to learn the techniques of research and broaden their knowledge of historical literature. Students may choose Plan I, which requires completion of 30 semester hours of course work and includes writing a thesis based on original research, or Plan II, a non-thesis option that requires completion of 36 semester hours of course work. All students must complete 6 credit hours of core course work, a minimum of 9 hours of course work in U.S. history, and a minimum of 9 hours in non-U.S. history (e.g. European, Asian, Latin American, world). Students in Plan I will complete an additional 6 hours of electives and the thesis requirement; students in Plan II complete an additional 12 hours of electives. |
