Line up: 9:00am | Judging: 11am | Parade Begins: 12pm
Location: Parade will begin on 14th Street South between University Blvd and 10th Ave South. Parade will move toward 11th Ave South and turn left and proceed to 18th Street South, turn left back to University Blvd, and turn left toward 14th Street South.

Design and decorate your own float to be displayed for the Birmingham community as you show your Blazer Pride around campus!

The float competition is heavily weighted on the decoration of the actual float. The goal is to display UAB spirit through the decorations on and around your float. All entries must be in good taste and will be checked before being allowed to enter the parade. Participants may be judged by the Student Homecoming Committee or the National Alumni Society.

 

Rules & Regulations

  • Line-up begins no earlier than 9:00 a.m.
  • Judging for the float completition begins at 11 a.m. It is the responsibility of the group to get their float on time for line-up. UAB is not responsible for any loss or damage to the float, trailer, or vehicle. Care must be taken when transporting the float on roadways
  • No animals may be on the float.
  • Only floats with vehicles will be judged.
  • In case of damage to the float due to rain, photos of the float may be submitted for judging.

 

The judges for the Student Homecoming Committee Float Competition are representatives from Student Affairs and other campus departments.

The judges for the Alumni Float Competition are a representative from each of the following: Alumni Affairs, the National Alumni Society Board of Directors. Athletics, Student Affairs, and UAB Creative and Marketing. For floats being judged by NAS, the number of people riding on the float is limited to 8 per group.

All winners will be notified Friday afternoon by the committee who judged them. The Alumni Float Competition awards will include Most Creative Float Design, Best Use of Homecoming Theme, and Best Display of Blazer Pride. The Student Homecoming Committee Float Competition awards will include 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
