Additional Learning Requirement

GCL Honors believes that learning also takes place outside the confines of a classroom. The following expectations, therefore, help a student expand their learning beyond the classroom time:

Electronic Portfolio Requirement:
Through reflective assignments, students will assess their progress on the civic  learning objectives, focusing particularly on integrating learning activities from inside and outside the classroom environment.

Participation in Honors (PIH):
Students also engage in opportunities provided by the program to learn more about local and global issues and to develop a sense of community among their peers. A student Leadership Council host a number of events each semester, ranging from service projects, educational speakers, recruiting events and socials. Each GCL student must participate in four (4) events of PIH each Fall/Spring semester. These events should include one service, one social, and two educational events. Students also assess what they learned during the educational and service events in their e-portfolio.
