UAB Medicine is providing the UAB Farmer's Market again this year to the staff and visitors of UAB. We are partnering with the Farmer’s Market Authority of the State of Alabama, part of the Department of Agriculture, to bring some of the best farmers in Alabama to the UAB Market this summer.
The Market will be held every Friday from June 6 - August 29 and is open to both staff and visitors of UAB.
Time: 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Location: North Pavilion Entrance
UAB Medicine Urgent Care is open seven days a week to treat patients ages 18 and older. Operating hours are 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, and 1-5 p.m. Sunday. One medical doctor and one nurse practitioner are onsite during hours of operation. This is a walk-in clinic, so no appointments are necessary.
For more information, including a map of the clinic location, visit uabmedicine.org/UrgentCare or call (205) 801-5251.
The league is open for UAB faculty, staff, students, alumni, as well as UAB friends and family members. This league is for beginners as well as experienced bowlers, so don't be shy if this is the first time you've joined a bowling league. Invite a few friends, family members, or colleagues and attend the kick-off party on May 6 to see how you like the experience before committing to the entire season.
It's a great way to get active, meet new people, have some fun, and give back. The Winter league was able to turn in $700 to the UAB Benevolent Fund from their $1 per week charity donation.
So come on out, try a new sport and get involved in the Blazer Bowling League!

Diabetes is a leading cause of heart attack, stroke, blindness, kidney failure, and amputation. It also leads to more sick days and less productivity on the job. The good news is, type 2 diabetes can be prevented, and it isn’t as hard as you might think. Losing just 7% of your body weight (which translates to 15 pounds if you weigh 200 pounds) and exercising moderately (like brisk walking) 5 days a week can reduce your risk for type 2 diabetes by 58%. Lifestyle changes also can prevent or delay diabetes complications.
UAB Wellness is committed to helping UAB faculty, staff and their families prevent and manage diabetes. The Type Two Network is a new initiative focused on providing the health tools and resources to manage diabetes.
