Meet the Staff

      
Rachelle Simmons has a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education and has been teaching preschool since 2009. In her own words Rachelle says, "I became a teacher to make a difference in children's lives and I believe that a well-rounded education is essential to making positive life choices. I am looking forward to teaching your precious children and watching them learn and grow here at UAB CDC!   Rachelle Simmons
Tracy Simmons is a teacher in the Huggers classroom and has been employed with UAB CDC for 8 years.  She holds a certificate in Child Development from Bevill State Community College.  She loves working with the children and with her co-teachers.  She is originally from Sipsey, AL.  
Alexandrea Ellington is a teacher in the Huggers classroom and has been employed at UAB CDC for 2 years.  She has a B.S. in Human Environmental Sciences from the University of Alabama and is currently pursuing a Master's degree in the same field.  She loves the children she teaches and especially enjoys watching them develop every day.  She also loves her teaching team.  Birmingham is her hometown.  

Monique Taylor-Jordan is a teacher in the Explorers classroom and has been employed at UAB for 16 years. She holds a Child Development Associates Credential and is currently working toward a two year degree in Child Development from Lawson State Community College. She likes working with children and cannot imagine doing any other kind of work. She loves the impact she has had on the lives of children throughout her many years as a childcare teacher. Monique is from Birmingham.

 
Susie White is a teacher in the Waddlers classroom and has been employed at UAB CDC for 10 years.  She has an associate's degree in Child Development from Lawson State Community College.  Susie enjoys all the wonderful people she gets to work with.  She was UAB's employee of the month for May 2010.  Susie's hometown is Birmingham.  
Vikita Waddy is a teacher in the Huggers classroom and has been employed at UAB CDC for 6 years.  She has a B.S. in Early Childhood Education from UAB.  She loves the children in her class and her teaching team.  She is from Ensley, AL.  
Cynthia Chiles is a teacher in the Lambs classroom and has been employed at UAB for 10 years.  She has an associate's degree in Child Development/Early Childhood Education from  Lawson State Community College.  Cynthia is from Green County, AL.  
Faye Coleman is a teacher in the Pathfinders room and has been employed at UAB for 16 years.  She has a Child Development Associate's Credential as well as an associate's degree in business administration.  She loves teaching and seeing the children come in with a smile and leave with a smile.  Birmingham is her hometown.  
Candi Mosley is a teacher in the Busy Bees room and has been employed at UAB for 3 years.  She has a Child Development Associates Certificate that she earned through Lawson State Community College.  She loves to see the children smile when they learn something new.  Her hometown is Birmingham, AL.  
Sonya Powell is a teacher in the Busy Bees classroom and has been employed at UAB for 16 years.  She holds a Child Development Associate's Credential and is currently pursuing a two year degree in Child Development from Lawson State Community College.  She loves working with the children and teaching them so many wonderful things.  Birmingham is her hometown.  
Erica Wheeler is a teacher in the Pathfinders classroom and has been employed at UAB for 8 years.  She has a bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies with a concentration in Child Development from the University of Alabama.  Erica most enjoys working with families and seeing the smiles on the faces of the parents and children daily.  Erica is from Birmingham.  

Rhonda Barnette is a teacher in the Little Bears classroom and has been employed at UAB for 4 years.  She holds an associate's degree in Early Childhood Education from Lawson State Community College and is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Alabama.  Her favorite part of teaching is all the positive interactions with young children.  She is originally from Enterprise, Alabama.

 

Theresa Wright is a Teacher in Waddlers classroom and has her Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Development. She completed her degree and came highly recommended through program coordinators. During her internship for the Associate's Program at Jefferson State she had the opportunity to work at The Elizabeth Perry Rushton Child Development Center which is an NAEYC accredited center. Not long after graduation she was hired on there as a 2yr old teacher. She comes to us with high recommendations and she is looking forward to extending her career here and even continuing her education in the future.
