  • Previously, was on the faculty of Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (1989-2000).
  • Chair of the UAB Faculty Senate (2011-2012)
  • Chair of the Science Policy Committee of the American Physiological Society (2010-2013)
  • Research focuses on the molecular mechanisms underlying cardiomyocyte stress responses and how these pathways might be targeted for the treatment of heart disease
  • Has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles in leading journals
  • A member of the 2014 Class of Leadership Birmingham
  • 2014 Graduate Dean’s Excellence in Mentorship Award

David Yother

  • Director of Academic Technology and Relationship Management for the Information Technology area.
  • Focuses on building collaborative relationships across campus that keep IT in sync with the needs of the University and guide adoption of effective technology in support of the University’s mission.
  • Has a Business/Marketing degree from UAB and 25+ years of multi-industry IT management and leadership experience (higher education, banking, and retailing).
  • Current areas of focus at UAB include Academic Technology (Instructional and Classroom), Customer Relationships (Help Desk, IT Website, Business Relationship Mgmt.), and Vendor Relationships (Contracts/Licensing/Vendor Mgmt.).
  • Serves as co-Executive Sponsor to the Advisory Council to the Center for Teaching and Learning
  • Serves as chair of the Learning Resources Team for UAB's SACS Reaffirmation effort.
  • Serves as a member of the Advisory Council to eLearning and Professional Studies, the UAB Online Strategic Planning Steering Committee, and the Disability Support Services Technology Committee.
  • He also holds an Alabama Real Estate license (inactive) and is a local coordinator for American Red Cross blood drives.

Alan Eberhardt

  • Professor of Biomedical Engineering
  • Faculty member at UAB since 1991
  • Graduate of Northwestern University (Ph.D., 1990) and the University of Delaware (MSCE, 1987; BSCE, 1985)
  • Research focuses on orthopedic and injury biomechanics
  • Teaches the BME Capstone Design sequence, with foci on biomedical devices and devices to aid persons with disability
  • History of course instruction in applied mechanics, including continuum mechanics, fracture mechanics, advanced engineering mathematics
  • Has published approximately 50 peer reviewed articles and over 150 conference abstracts
