FMLA Poster (March 2013)
The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) has published final regulations clarifying several amendments to the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) that expanded the law’s military family leave provisions. These regulations are effective March 8, 2013.
Following the 2008 law that extended FMLA-qualifying leave to certain eligible employees for reasons that may arise from a family member’s service in the military, the National Defense Act Authorization Act for FY 2010 also expanded the leave entitlements available to relatives of covered servicemembers.
The new regulations implement recent expansions of FMLA leave concerning military family members and airline flight crews, and an employer's obligation to comply with the confidentiality requirements of the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008 (GINA).
Questions or additional information related to the Family Medical Leave Act may be directed to the Leave of Absence Coordinator at 4-6967.
