Alesia Brown Adams

Alesia Brown Adams, M.A., Employee Assistance and Counseling Center Administrative Coordinator, is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Approved LPC Supervisor in Alabama, a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP).

She is a member of the American Counseling Association, the Alabama Counseling Association, the Employee Assistance Professional Association of Alabama, the International Association of Employee Assistance Programs in Education, and the National Wellness Institute. She received her undergraduate degree in Psychology and her Master of Arts in Counseling from The University of Alabama (UA).  She has also completed Part I and Part II training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). She is a member of the UAB Safe Zone training team and a past member of the Birmingham AIDS Outreach Board of Directors.  Alesia is a certified New Forest T’ai Chi instructor and has been teaching T’ai Chi classes for UAB employees since 2008.   As Employee Assistance and Counseling Center Administrative Coordinator Alesia is involved in both the clinical supervision and administrative management of the Employee Assistance and Counseling Center and also facilitates the development, planning and promotion of stress management classes, educational programs and other services offered by The Employee Assistance and Counseling Center.  She works with individuals on a wide array of issues including depression, anxiety, job stress, burnout, stress management, issues impacting LGBTQ individuals and their allies, relationship issues, and grief and loss.  Alesia has worked with employees at UAB for over 20 years.
