5n5What is the Summer 5 in 5 Challenge?
A 5-week program that focuses on knowing your numbers, physical activities and weight loss. Weekly weigh-ins and blood pressure screenings will allow participants to track their progress at the Green Screens on Fridays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the UAB Hospital North Pavilion 1st Floor Lobby.

All participants who have met at least one of the goals will be eligible for prizes.

Goals:

  • Lower blood pressure 5 points in 5 weeks 
  • Lose 5 pounds in 5 weeks
  • Engage in 5 designated group exercise activities in 5 weeks (activities listed below)

When?  Initial weigh-in and blood pressure screening @ Green Screens June 27

How to Win Prizes
To be eligible to win a prize, participants must achieve at least ONE of the following goals: (1) lose 5 pounds in 5 weeks, (2) lower blood pressure by 5 points in 5 weeks, or (3) engage in 5 designated group exercise activities during the 5 week period.


Designated Group Activities: Times & Locations
Each participant will be given a tracker card at their first event. Participants are to keep up with this tracker card until the end of the challenge. Each activity will have a Summer Challenge employee present to sign your card for that activity. 

Physical Activities:

West Pavilion Atrium
Every Tuesday in July
July 1: Zumba from 12:15-1 p.m.
July 8: Zumba from 5:15-6 p.m.
July 15: Strength, Stretch & Relax from 12:15-1 p.m.
July 22: Zumba from 12:15-1 p.m.
July 29: Strength, Stretch & Relax from 5:15-6 p.m.

Campus Recreation Center
Zumba group fitness class every Tuesday in July during lunchtime hours, 12:15-1 p.m.

Green Screens:

North Pavilion 1st Floor Lobby
Every Friday from June 6-August 1 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
