Presented by the Collat School of Business  and IBERIABANK, the Blazer Innovation Challenge is an exciting competition designed to challenge UAB students to innovate new solutions to product, service, or process challenges.

Students can win up to $5,000 in prize money, along with valuable mentoring, coaching, and resources in the UAB Commercialization Accelerator to help incubate their ideas throughout the academic year and possibly launch their own start-up company.

Students can work individually or as part of a team, but can submit only one idea for consideration. Along with their challenge application, students will submit a one-minute video that explains the idea, the problem it solves, and why it’s relevant.

Submissions are due November 2, after which five finalists will be selected. Those finalists will go on to the next round in which they will receive coaching to refine their pitches. On November 15, finalists will present their ideas live before a panel of judges in a "Shark Tank"-style competition in the Nielsen Innovation Lab. An awards ceremony and reception will immediately follow.

So what’s your big idea? Start working on your pitch video today!
