Fall enrollment at the University of Alabama at Birmingham is at a record high for the fifth consecutive year. Figures show a year-to-year total enrollment increase of 3.6%, up to 18,568 from 17,999 in the fall of 2012.
Increases were seen from 2012 among freshmen, transfer students, undergraduates and master’s-level students: the freshmen class increased 5.8% to 1,773 students; incoming transfer students increased 10% to 1,397; and master’s-level enrollment increased 8.7% to 4,650 students.
In 2013, the average ACT score for the freshman class increased to 25 from 24.5 in 2012, and the average GPA increased to 3.62 from 3.54. UAB’s freshman enrollment is the largest in its history and increased for a fifth consecutive year, with gains among in-state students, as well as those from other states, other countries and Jefferson County, Alabama.
