VISITING UAB MEDICAL CENTER
International Medical Service coordinators will take care of every detail relating to a patient's visit to UAB, including translation services, scheduling medical appointments, and arranging finances.
Coordinators will also arrange accommodations for patients and their families in nearby hotels such as the Embassy Suites.
The International Medical Services office coordinates the visits of international patients to UAB Medical Center. Through this office, the patient and referring physician can plan the trip, coordinate medical appointments, prepare and translate all medical reports, and make arrangements for hotels and transportation. To assist patients and their families before, during, and after their trip to UAB, a team of interpreters versed in almost every language is available.
Upon the patient's arrival in Birmingham, a member from the International Medical Services office will meet the patient and family at the airport. He or she will be available at all times to translate when necessary, providing caring, personal attention. These services are compliments of the Hospital and do not represent additional charges to the patient.

The International Medical Service also helps arrange visits for international physicians. Annually, hundreds of physicians and specialists from around the world come to UAB to further their training or to participate in continuing education events. To facilitate your visit, we recommend you contact this office prior to your trip. We can provide information on programs available to international physicians, including interconsultations, scholarships, subscriptions to UAB medical publications, and more.
