Children's Hospital offers children and their families 225 beds, as well as a Pediatric ICU, a Neonatal ICU, a Special Care Unit, and a Burn Unit. Recent renovations have integrated most ancillary services and ambulatory procedure areas, including endoscopy suites, one-day surgery, radiology and a dialysis unit, to make patient visits more efficient. A new Ambulatory Care Center adjacent to the hospital also provides a comprehensive setting for physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals to treat patients through a multidisciplinary approach. Many of the services, technology, and facilities which are part of the hospital cannot be found anywhere else in Alabama.

Even in these days of modern medicine, the atmosphere at Children's Hospital is bright, colorful, and very child-friendly. Many patients say it doesn't look or feel like a hospital, which is a great comfort to children.
