GOALS

  1. INCREASE by 200% the number of University of California underrepresented students who receive middle and high school teacher credentials from the State of California in science and mathematics.
  2. ENHANCE collaborative science and mathematics teacher preparation activities involving UC science and mathematics faculty, education faculty, and K-12 teachers and administrators.
  3. STRENGTHEN the disciplinary knowledge, teaching skills, and cultural sensitivity of newly trained science and mathematics teachers from underrepresented groups.

FRAMEWORK

CONCEPT
In conjuction with established UC teacher education curriculum, CAMP-TP offers field experiences that motivate and prepare undergraduates for a career in teaching. Support is provided for preprofessional education, specialized assistance with tutoring or mentoring techniques, academic advising, and computer training in software to develop lessons and problem solving strategies to implement in K-12 science classrooms.
