Configuring the Outlook Express Email Client using HTTP, IMAP and POP3 - Start Outlook Express
- Pull down the Tools menu and select Accounts (screenshot)
- Select the Mail tab and click Add then Mail (screenshot)
- Enter Display Name, click Next (screenshot)
- Enter full UAB E-mail Address, click Next (screenshot)
- In the E-mail Server Names window enter (screenshot)
- My Incoming Mail server is: choose (HTTP, IMAP, or POP3)
- Incoming Mail Server: mail.ad.uab.edu
- Outgoing Mail Server: relay.ad.uab.edu
- Then click Next
- Enter Account Name-full e-mail address
- Next, click Finish (screenshot)
- In the Internet Accounts window, select the account you just set up and click Properties (screenshot)
- In the Properties window, click the Advanced tab (screenshot)
- Under Outgoing mail, check This server requires a secure connection (TLS) and change the port from 25 to 587.
- Under Incoming mail, check This server requires a secure connection (SSL)
- Under Delivery, check Leave a copy of messages on server and choose appropriate Remove option
- Lastly, click Apply and OK
- Close the Internet Accounts window. You are ready to begin using UAB E-mail.
