| Criminal Justice Requirements |

To complete the Bachelor of science in criminal justice, you must complete 42 semester hours of course work, divided into 30 semester hours in required courses (including an Internship/Capstone experience) and 12 hours of elective courses. Students may select a concentration in one of seven areas by completing a minimum of 9 hours from a designated set of courses in that area. Requirements for the Major Students must complete the following 9 courses (27 hours) and earn a grade of "C" or better: JS 100 – Introduction to the Criminal Justice System Students must also complete one of the following statistics courses (3-4 hours) and earn a grade of "C" or better: JS120 - Introduction to Statistics MA180 - Introduction to Statistics SOC410 - Social Statistics (requires lab) To complete the major requirement, students must also complete 12 semester hours of elective courses, of which a minimum of 9 hours must be at the 300+ level. Students may select one of seven areas of concentration by completing a minimum of 9 hours in the designated area, or select any four criminal justice general electives . Areas of specialization include: Corrections Students are also required to select a minor area of study, the requirements for which range from 18-21 semester hours. Commonly chosen minors include Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, a natural science (e.g., Chemistry or Biology), Accounting, or Computer Science. |
