| Mock Trial Team Fall Updates |

The UAB Mock Trial Team has now completed its fall competitive season. In October, the team participated in an invitational tournament held at the University of Georgia which featured 18 teams from 13 schools including Wake Forest, the University of Florida, the University of North Carolina, and Florida State University. The White Team compiled a record of 5 wins and 3 losses, while the Green team went 4.5 wins (1 tie) and 3 losses. Individual awards for “Outstanding Attorney” went to Grady Lowman and Brian Price. Competition continued in November when the team visited Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) and competed in the MTSU “Mid-South Mock Trial Invitational Tournament.” Some 30 schools sent 48 teams to the competition, including Vanderbilt, Emory, Georgia Tech, Southern Methodist University, and the Universities of Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Georgia. UAB faced teams from Rhodes College, Ole Miss, the University of South Carolina, Georgia, and Georgia Tech. The UAB White Team went 4.5 wins (1 tie) and 3 losses; the Green Team went 4 wins and 4 losses; and the Gold Team went 3 wins and 5 losses. Grady Lowman and Brian Price again won “Outstanding Attorney" awards. The team resumes competition in February at the American Mock Trial Association (AMTA) Regional Tournament that will be held in Jackson, MS. UAB Alumni Nathan Mays (’08) and Joseph Dease (’09) assumed the reins this year as team Coach and Assistant Coach respectively, taking over from Renee Kirby who served as Coach during 2010-2011.
