Anthony Criswell, a 6-9, 205-pound forward from Oklahoma City, Okla., has signed to play basketball at UAB, according to an announcement by head coach Mike Davis.
Criswell comes to UAB after a standout senior season for head coach Terry Long at Douglass (Okla.) High School. While at Douglass, Criswell helped lead the Trojans to the Oklahoma 2009 4A state semifinals. Behind the play of the 6-9 big man, Douglass finished the season with a 25-3 overall record and a final ranking of No. 9 in the state.
Criswell closed the year averaging team highs of 17.1 points and just over 10 rebounds per game on his way to earning 4A First-Team All-State accolades by The Oklahoman. Additionally, Criswell also received first-team all-district honors by the Oklahoma Boys Basketball Coaches Association (OBBCA).
Criswell’s best game his senior season came against Marshall High School on Jan. 6, when he exploded for 34 points on 14-of-23 shooting from the floor, and added 17 boards en route to the win. He also recorded 20 points and 14 rebounds in a victory in the first round of state basketball playoffs over Madill.
