Kaleidoscope student newspaper published
Begins at 10:00 am. Every Tuesday pick up a fresh copy of the student newspaper Kaleidoscope, distributed to every building on campus. Check out extra photos, video and more on the web at www.uab.edu/kscope. The preceeding Thursday by 5 p.m. is the deadline to place an ad in the Kaleidoscope or submit an event for the published What’s Ablaze calendar.
Springfest Committee Meeting
Begins at 7:00 pm. SPRINGFEST 2010 SATURDAY, APRIL 10 FRIENDS! FOOD! FUN! Springfest is the university’s annual spring festival held in April which offers great music, amazing rides and novelties, as well as outstanding food. Begins at 8:00 pm. Blaze Productions is your ticket to big name concerts, comedians, coffee house acts and much more! What makes Blaze Productions unique is that students run the show-literally. By joining the committee, you can help select the artists, secure contracts, host entertainers, operate technical equipment, and promote and produce the shows.

UAB Theatre presents “Eurydice”
Begins at 8:30 pm. Written by Sarah Ruhl, directed by Karla Koskinen. Shows 7:30 p.m. nightly Nov. 11-14 and Nov. 18-21 and at 2 p.m. Nov. 22. Tickets are $12; $6 for students; $10 for UAB employees and senior citizens. In “Eurydice,” Ruhl reimagines the classic myth of Orpheus through the eyes of its heroine. Dying too young on her wedding day, Eurydice must journey to the underworld, where she reunites with her father and struggles to remember her lost love. With contemporary characters and ingenious plot twists, the play is a fresh look at a timeless love story.

Alys Stephens Center presents The Wailers
Begins at 8:00 pm. This world-famous group has performed for an estimated 24 million fans; together with Bob Marley, they sold 250 million albums worldwide. Their Exodus Tour features hits from the famous 1977 album “Exodus,” including “Jammin,” “Three Little Birds” and “Turn Your Light Down Low.” The lineup includes original Wailers Family Man Aston Barrett, bass; Keith Sterling, keyboards; Chico Chin, trumpet; and Nambo Robinson, trombone, with Elan Atias, lead vocals. VIP tickets are $75. Performance tickets are $57, $47, $37; $20 for students. Part of the Global Rhythm Series. Sipsey: Backpacking, AL
Begins at 6:00 pm. Backpacking Sipsey Wilderness, AL November 13-November 15 Depart 5pm, Return 8pm $30 for Students $40 for Faculty/Staff/Alumni $50 for Non-Students Pre-Trip Meeting/ deadline for signup Nov. 10 @ 6pm, CRCT 290 Backpack in one of the third largest wilderness areas east of the Mississippi. Hardwood and Pine trees dominate the ridges of the spectacular Sipsey Wilderness. The Sipsey Wilderness is also known for the largest poplar tree in the state of Alabama. Sipsey is loaded with an incredible number of waterfalls, which has also earned it the name “land of a thousand waterfalls”. Begins at 9:00 pm. VIP tickets are $70. Performance tickets are $52, $42, $32; $20 for students. Three-time Grammy winner and 12-time nominee Hornsby has played on more than 100 recordings with artists including Bob Dylan, Don Henley, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Cowboy Junkies, Bonnie Raitt (piano on the classic “I Can’t Make You Love Me”), Shawn Colvin, Bela Fleck and Willie Nelson. Hornsby was a member of the Grateful Dead 1990-92, performing in more than 100 concerts and appearing on four Dead album releases. His most recent recordings, a bluegrass record with Ricky Skaggs and a jazz album with Christian McBride, again continue to showcase his diverse talent. Part of the Eclectic Palate Series.
