Hello, everyone, and welcome back to our first issue of the summer! We’ll be getting into the dramatic season finales of your fave scripted shows next week, but for now, here’s your reality TV wrap-up.
‘American Idol’
On the season finale of “American Idol,” 97.5 million viewers voted, and David Cook was pronounced the new American Idol by a whopping twelve million votes. Although David Archuleta did not win as many votes as predicted, he still received a Ford Hybrid to drive around in style. The night was filled with wonderful performances starting with the singing of “Hallelujah” by Jason Castro. Also cropping up were: ZZ Top who performed “Sharp Dressed Man” with an elated David Cook, OneRepublic who did their hit “Apologize” with runner-up David Archuleta, Seal who dueted with third-placer Syesha and Bryan Adams and George Michael who did medleys of their hits with the cast. On the comedy front, both David Cook and David Archuleta received advice from the “Love Guru” (aka Mike Myers), who hilariously prophesied that a David would win “American Idol,” and the Pips of Gladys Knight fame were digitally and hilariously replaced with Ben Stiller, Jack Black and Robert Downey Jr. doing a version of “Midnight Train to Georgia.” All in all, a fairly entertaining end to a decent if somewhat underwhelming season.
‘The Hills’
On the season finale of “The Hills,” Heidi decides to take a job offer in Las Vegas to move away from Spencer. When Spencer finds out about Heidi’s recent departure and plans for living in Vegas, he enlists the help of his sister to track Heidi down. Spencer interrupts a very important business meeting at the Palazzo Hotel to declare his love for Heidi. He eventually convinces Heidi to move back to Los Angeles with him.
In Los Angeles, Lauren feels she is not connecting with Audrina the way she used to do. As Lauren grows closer to Lo, Audrina drifts further away. When Lauren finally talks to Audrina, Audrina reveals that Lo has jeopardized her relationship with Lauren. Meanwhile, in Birmingham, the Spectrum editor hangs his head in shame for even knowing who all these idiots are, though he concedes Lauren is smoking hot and is looking forward to the premiere of her new sex tape.
‘Flavor of Love 3’
On the season finale of “Flavor of Love 3,” Flav must make a decision among Thing 2, Sincere and Black. Each of the girls accompanies Flav to breakfast, but Sincere is sent home. Flav decides to take Thing 2 and Black on two individual dates. Black travels with Flav in a private jet. The attraction between Flav and Black is obvious, yet Black has no sense of humor. Flav tells Black if they were together he would treat her child like his own. On Thing 2’s date, Flav travels to Paris and has a wonderful time. Thing 2 and Flav share common interests, such as bowling and eating. Thing 2 is also funny, which Flav loves. In the end, Flav chooses love over mere chemistry stating that his heart truly belongs to Thing 2. She won over the hip-hop star by proclaiming that Flav has changed her life. Flav believes Thing 2 is the girl for him. Meanwhile, the rest of the world counts the days to the apocalypse.
‘Dancing with the Stars’
Kristi Yamaguchi had the honor of being the second female winner of “Dancing with the Stars.” Many people predicted it would be Kristi because of her impeccable record. On the finale, the eliminated contestants danced one last time. Usher also appeared, performing “Love in This Club” and “Yeah.” Overall, it was a great night, especially for fans wanting to see their faves one last time. See you next week!
